Muay Thai is recognized both domestically and internationally as not only a fight for self-defense, but also a sport and exercise that emphasizes strength and agility. Muay Thai is considered a fight that uses all 8 parts of the body: fists, elbows, knees and feet, or what is known as the “8-limbed martial art”.

1. History of Muay Thai

Elbows: Elbows are deadly and accurate weapons. Used at close range for powerful attacks and have the opportunity to injure the opponent.
Knees: Use knees to attack the stomach, torso and legs. It is an important weapon in close-range combat.
Feet: Use feet to kick hard, such as high kicks, low kicks, spinning kicks or diagonal kicks.

3. Basic stances in Muay Thai

Muay Thai training has many basic stances that all boxers must practice continuously to develop their skills. The basic stances in Muay Thai are:

Crocodile Whale Tail: A 360-degree spinning kick stance using feet or heels to strike the opponent’s head or torso.
Hong Hen: A stance using fists to punch the opponent’s torso or face by stepping forward.
Naga Twisted Tail: Using elbows to spin to attack the opponent’s face and torso at close range.
Theer Kwad Lan: A low kick stance on the opponent’s legs to knock them off balance.

4. Muay Thai training

Muay Thai training requires determination and intention. Because it is a training that requires physical strength and requires training in fighting techniques, self-defense, impact resistance, and speed, which includes:

Physical training: Running, weightlifting, jumping rope, and sandbag training to increase strength and endurance.
